"Flocking
can be used to create a soft, velvety surface
on a hard item, or to create a more durable
and non-slip surface on a smooth or otherwise
non-durable surface."

Suede-Tex
nylon fibers are popular with decoy
flocking and rod makers.
They are also excellent for lining boxes, picture
framing, auto restoration, and anywhere the traditional
rayon fibers may be used. Because of their unique
qualities and slightly longer length, nylon fibers
are priced slightly higher than the traditional rayon
fibers. They are available in a variety of colors.
Application
of the flock fibers is identical for both nylon and
rayon, using the same DonJer undercoat adhesive and
application equipment.
Nylon
is currently available in 16 colors. They are as follows:

With
the increased popularity of flocked decoys (duck and
goose), many waterfowlers would like a simple way
to "do-it-yourself" economically.
Both
Suede-Tex rayon and nylon fibers have been used for
decoy flocking, and it has been determined that the
nylon is better. Suede-Tex nylon fibers are
a more durable fiber, therefore, they stand up to
handling better and are more weather resistant.

One 3 oz.
bag of fibers will cover approx. 2 dozen Bigfoot decoys.
One 1 lb. bag will cover approx. 10 dozen Bigfoot
decoys.
Our adhesive
is a solvent based adhesive that has been colored
to match the fibers. It dries permanently and the
finish will not be affected by water or cold temperatures.
One 8 oz. can is recommended with the 3 oz. bag of
fibers; three 8 oz. cans are recommended with the
1 lb. bag of fibers.
Application:
To
prepare your decoy, using a wire brush, rough up the
surface so that it holds the adhesive better. Brush
on a generous coating of adhesive and immediately
apply the fibers using DonJer's mini flocker applicator
which will give you a smooth, even finish. Once it
dries remove the excess fibers and reclaim them for
future use. Complete instructions for the application
of the finish are included in each mini flocker.
"Flocking
can be used to create a soft, velvety surface on a
hard item, or to create a more durable and non-slip
surface on a smooth or otherwise non-durable surface."
So says Tom Kirkman in his article in RodMaker
Magazine (Aug. 2004).
He continues to advise, "Flocked seats are very comfortable
and warm to the hand during cold weather fishing.
A small flocked area on ferrule reinforcement wraps
results in a non-slip surface which aids in taking
rods apart. Surf rod butts traditionally wrapped with
cork tape can be treated to flock. Use your imagination
and add one more creative yet functional trick to
your rod building repertoire."

| Flocked
grips are the finest grips you can use on a
fishing rod, offering nearly all the advantage
of cork, EVA or wood grips, but with none of
the disadvantages. "Lightweight, firm, comfortable,
non-slip and durable, they're the envy of all
other grip types." |
